Exhaust Fumes Inside The Car!?

I'm new to cars and although I have common sense I want someone to point out the obvious/possibly be more specific as I looked in the H.manual and...well there isn't and index that covers all problems. Haha. Sad but true or maybe I'm just blind!?
Anyway long story short it's exactly what the title says: Exhaust fumes inside the car. They spear to be coming from in the middle under the dash, but I can really see and with my limited knowledge...it's this likely to be an easy fix/small hole?
Car runs fine, I'm just not a fan of the fumes and for sure not a good idea to drive round with the windows up for a long period of time!:s
Thanks for your help and I appreciate you taking the time to read this.
Thanks again.

If you have a LCB then the 2-1 pipe connection could be your source of the fumes, or a split LCB pipe in the Y.Both these could be your issue of a hole somewhere on the pipe. If you dont have a LCB then a fracture/hole. Have a look underneath and see if you see any tell tale black soot marks

If you've got centre clocks then it's generally much more noticeable - once you've found the problem it's worth checking the binnacle is sealed in properly and / or if you've got the offset instrument cluster make sure all the bulkhead grommets are present and in good condition.......
If you drive it in he meantime make sure the windows are open!!

Car works heat actually but the exhaust fume IN the car is a recent thing and definitely is t right. I bought some ramps today so I can get underneath (figure they'll be an investment either way) and I will more than like pick your brains again/tell you what I find tomorrow.
Thanks guys

The washers under the bolts holding my manifolds were a right bodge and pulling the manifolds in all sorts of weird directions, you might want to check yours, we had to custom make a complete set to make a good seal.

Hi guys thanks for all your help and replies. I managed (just about) to get under the mini today and i couldn't see any cracks/holes or any damage to the exhaust...well the bits i could see at least. Its defiantly coming from the front so i don't see it being the boot seal, but thank you.
I did notice some air coming out of the manifold when i looked under the bonet, whether this is the source im not sure because it just seemed like air and not fumes. One side seems completely tight and sealed and the other doesn't look as plush. I did find a hole where a small rubber seal had come away related to the cable coming from the engine bay to the speedo, so i just put the rubber seal back in place hoping that it would reduce the source of the fumes coming through the dash again.
Tomorrow i will have someone reeving the engine while i look at that small less plush side of the manifold. I did take a few bits off and then try and tighten the nut, but actually it is already a little rounded off and i couldn't tighten, so IF you think this could be the source...maybe i should take the whole thing out and try and correct it, but i only want to do this if this is the source. Like i said i'm new to playing with cars, but i do have some common sense and do some engenering in collage a LOOOONG time ago. Haha. I'll go and take a photo now and you guys can let me know what you think.
Thanks again for all your replies, its much appreciated

If the boot seal is leaking the car will draw air in through the gaps, as the boot is right next to the exhaust it will draw exhaust fumes in as well.

It's not normal. Please look for the cause of it.
I had the cat and manifold gasket slightly leaking on my MPi last year, and with the roof and window open, the leak made me feel awful.
A few days later after driving it, I had to go to A&E due to a tight chest, the cause? the leaking exhaust, and with the roof open, it was drawing more of it in.

Mini's generally whiff a bit but you do seem to have a problem - check that exhaust thoroughly - not forgetting the join of manifold to head.

Hi Guys, i got under the mini today and i found the source. I was just wondering if someone can confirm that if i just replace the seals...this would do the job??
Please click on my link and let me know, its only about 5 seconds. (The first joint/bend has some oil on it and because its hot is smoking a little, but what looks like the actual source is further down, you'll see. Anyway if someone can look and let me know, i'd appreciate it. Thank you!
