Hi guys i'm new to all of this, i got my first car a few months back and really liked the look of 6x10 deep dish minilites/ultralites,

I have a BRG mini cooper classic year 2000 so therefore i have standard 12's, what would i have to do to change these and do any of you have any pictures of 10's that could help with which ones to go for? i like the look of the http://www.minisport...re-package.html in theory in gold or the dark grey but don't know how they could turn out, the car is totally standard suspension and brakes wise,

Any advice would be much appreciated as i am a total novice

You will need to convert the front brakes to 7.5" cooper s brakes, there is an 8.4" to 7.5" kit out there at most mini retailers and with TMF+ you get 7.5% off with minispares so thats worth having as the kit is about £200 minimum,

Other than wheels and tyres that should be all you need, if you have sportspack arches then you may find spacers are required to fill the wheels out and stop it looking over arched, if you have standard 'special' arches you may find the wheels poke out past them and in that case you would need to change to wider arches :)

Ah thank you so much for the help!

If there are any styles you could recommend i'd really appreciate it, and do the smaller wheels benefit or hinder the ride or handling in any way?

well style is up to you, I am running 6x10 banded steels which I love.

and handling is improved with 10" wheels, much softer suspension as the tyre sidewall is bigger

This is mine on the wheels I mentioned

wow they look great! Just going to have to think if black would suit the BRG, as i mentioned i thought gold might look cool but they may look horrible too, would love to see a set on a similar car to be sure.

I personally really like the gold ones on green cars, also anthracite ones look really nice on any colour

i think on a brg mini grey or black wheels will look quite mean and IMO will look really good.

brg mini and gold wheels would still probably look good, but in a different way, im thinking a bit more retro racer, sort of 60s track car maybe? you could do allot with that theme.

as for arches i like grp2 arches with 6x10s depending on the offset of the wheel obviously. grp2s are essential for a retro look IMO.

here is my old mini, 6x10 minilights with yokos and grp2 arches. (this was at the brooklands show a few years back now, the windscreen smashed on the way there when a stone hit it! what a weekend!)

ah wow that looks great! Yeah I did have a look at black but i thought that sometimes the wheel is lost in the tyre a bit, almost too much black but i guess if you have the right tyre and shade of black wheel this won't be a problem? Alex_B's mini looks great with black wheels ^ but may only work on a white car?

Thanks for the advice

Those banded steels are 10x7 :)

I measured the spare I had a while back and they are 7 inches wide when measuring them edge to edge but the way they are supposed to be measured is inside shoulder to inside shoulder and it was 6 inches :)
