Maybe he is reflecting on how many people he has scared off by using the word BINI and writing apology letters to them? ;)

If you'd have replied on the fb group, you'd have got a quicker response.

BINI is short for Bmw MINI?
It's not derogatory, its a nice way to differentiate between the classic and its brother from another Mutter!
and its hardly worth changing the swear filter for it, otherwise where do you stop with shortened words?

In my experience, the word 'Bini' is used two ways. Some people use it to differentiate between a Mini and a MINI (without wishing to cause offence) and others use it as a derogatory term to describe a MINI and is intended to be offensive (although when challenged, they'll pretend it's not, although you can tell from the rest of their post that it is).
I know that some people do find it offence - they tell me! As we shouldn't be wanting to be offensive or use a words that we know others will find offensive, I think it's a good idea, if it is technically possible.
Given what I now know from MINI owners and given that we're supposed to be MINI tolerant, it is a sensible suggestion. Also, it does help with clarity, although BMW do not like it being described as a BMW MINI as BMW and MINI are separate brands, but let's not go there!
