I've just fitted this SPA design Speedo/Tacho in mine and it was pretty easy but I have a good knowledge of car electrics. If you can use a multimeter to identify wires it should be pretty straight forward. I think the only potential headache is the speed sensor as most of that type of gauge are designed for motorbikes.

There is a manual online but it doesnt seem to have a wiring diagram, it might be worth asking if they have one so you can take a look first

Thanks

We have a cheaper one from the same company. They are very simple to install and the info is very helpful. They do an adaptor for a mini gearbox which we haven't tested yet as we are playing with it in one of our race cars. It works well and we have had no problems so far. The readout isn't as clear as an analogue - we wanted the one you have shown but the guy was sponsoring us so we were happy with the one we got.

This is the one that I want to get. Rik_t, would you be up for seeing if he'd do a deal if we bought two?

Go to a show and I bet he would, he seems a very friendly helpful guy (I think the business is just him and his wife importing interesting stuff) and I think the offer of two cash sales would get a discount from him.

They're always cheaper on eBay as well, for some reason.

Yeah, I'd ask. And I'm going to make my own dash for it as well. I'll have to post pics up when it's done. It's a work in progress, i.e, could take many moons.

Did anyone end up buying one of these?

I've just dug mine out from my drawer of things to fit to the mini at some point in the future.

Was wondering if it's as straight forward as im hoping.

Any hints, tips, pictures?

I'm pretty sure I remember there being an additional cable that i needed to buy, but cant remember which one now.
