I have the sc kit in my car and removed the immobiliser so I imagine its the same for yours, the factory ecu is linked to the immobiliser so removing the ecu will render it useless

The starting issue is probably due to the fact that in my experience the base maps are not suitable ( mine did not want to start ) and unless you are good with a laptop and the sx tune software you will need to take it to a rolling road to get it tuned

I think you mentioned SC we're going to set the engine up on their dyno. If so, I assume they'll have transferred over the mapping to your ECU. If this is the case, you should be able to rule out a mapping issue. I suggest you get them to remotely access it to diagnose it for you.

Removing the factory ECU from the car whether coded or not, will not stop the engine from starting. The Factory alarm in 1993 was not coded to the ECU so has no bearing on any imobilisation issues.

Firstly, is this actually a factory alarm system and has the wiring been altered at all?

Gents,

Thanks for these - much appreciated.

As the plot thickens I think different owners have had different problems over the years and added/removed different electrical bits and pieces. The wiring on the car was awful. Ive replaces the wiring harness to the ECU but now nothing works. It did work before we pulled the engine out but now we seem to be going backwards and I would quite happily set fire to it.

We have the Specialist Components ECU and all the parts of the kit that comes with the engine.

It's starting to feel like we need a specialist in the wiring area or someone who really knows the ins and outs of the electrical side of mini restoration.

Ive just about replaced every mechanical bit on the car including all the fuses and relays - it seems to be the tricky bit now of marrying it all up and getting it to work.

I dont want to lose another summer so would transport it to the right person if necessary.

Anyone got any ideas/suggestions?

Thanks and may the Force be with me!

Damian

Hi Graham,

To your point - SC set it up the engine on their dyno then crated it back to me.

Clan - Thanks for this, as of today we cant even get power to the starter motor. We seem to be going backwards now.

I would still get them to remotely access it and have a look for you.
