Hi,
I have search the forum but could not find how to by pass Immobiliser.
Need great help.

Here is my problem.
1. Car start normally with immobilizer disconnected (has been this way when I bought the car).
2. clock not working since I bought the car, however when the engine was running, there was light on the clock and work. The clock stop when the engine was not running.
3. connect clock positive to permanent power supply.
4. clock now working and left it overnight.
5. clock was still working the next day
6. Try to start engine, starter wont turn over (not even a click sound from starter).
7. Plug in immobilizer, car starts normally
8. Un-plug immobilizer, starter wont turn over (not even click from starter).

Please help how to by-pass the immobilizer

Car details:

Car : Rover Mini Cabriolet
Engine no: 12A2EF77XXXXXX
chasis no: SAXXNNBYCBDXXXXXX
Year make: 1993

Thank you.
Regards.

I might be missing something here; but if the car starts and runs with the immobiliser installed why do you want to remove it?

I read there are problems associated with immobiliser. Therefore if the immobiliser was taken out, then one less problem.
Please help.
Thank you.
Regards.

I don't think they are that problematic, I've been in to minis and on this forum for nearly two years and its not something that I would say crops up to often.

Happy to be corrected but I thought the system was quite reliable

It possibly can be bypassed but I think it is quite complex from previous readings.

I've had my SPi since new 20 years ago and never had any problems with the immobiliser. I haven't used the alarm for many years but it all still works.

I wouldn't worry about it unless it becomes an issue later. There are plenty of other things to worry about...

As above two points 1) why do you want to remove imobiliser when it's isn't a known issue? 2) the imobiliser is there to prevent your car being stolen;why do you think someone in open forum is going to post the info to bypass it even if they known how to do it

Good to hear that it is quite reliable.
However I am puzzle why when I first bought the car it start without immobiliser.
Will use with immobilizer for now and hopefully can do without it one day.
Thank you for your feedback.

Any answers please do so via pm as somebody has done. Thank you.

pre 1995 factory alarm/ imobiliser is not 'passive', it does not arm its self, it has to be armed by using the fob. If you do not arm the alarm/ imobiliser it will remain off.

As for what you describe, it sounds like someone has altered the wiring, meaning it will be difficult to comment accurately on any solutions.

Edit* Like a dope, I replied to a post from 2014 :withstupid:

Hi,

Thanks for your reply, really appreciated.

I have a grey, one button fob with the keys. the car did start without using the fob. The fob has no Rover markings on it, so I'm not sure its Factory.

I have fitted a Specialist Components engine and their ECU. I have replaced the top wiring harness (that which connects to the relays and ECU in the engine bay), fuses/box etc and am going through the pain of getting the new engine/ECU to fire.

Can the immobiliser be bypassed - the Vin records a '93 SPi.

Any suggestions at all would be hugely appreciated.

Cheers,

Damian
