Hi;

I am about to remove my Rear Subframe and whilst researching what is required I found a post (on this site I think) discussing making and using a jig to ensure that repair panels are fitted correctly.

I would like to build one and have access to some box steel and or small gauge angle iron but need some help with the sizes etc

The 1969 to 200 Mini Haynes Manual, Page 11A*4 shows the Front and Rear Subframe and gives exact widths between each front and each rear mounting points but that's it.

Does any know where I can find the post and info on building a jig.

Many thanks

My one by chance??

This was done by drilling and attaching the mounting plates to the car.

I then attached the cross bars and longitudinal bars by tacking welding to start with. Then taken off and refitted to make sure the alignment was good. Then it was seam welded.

After this i cross checked it on the special and my mates mainstream Cooper to prove it was not warped etc.

The front cross brace you could weld directly underneath the rear seat pan or place two extra pieces on top of the cross piece to butt against the seat pan. I will be modifying mine to do this.

Ah yes I remember that pic, you replied to the thread with this pic, someone was PM ing or emailing the dims I think, can you post the link to the thread?

I started this thread on lining up the heelboard panels: http://www.theminifo...-repair-panels/

and BlackOlive replied with his solution for the front mounts but I now need a jig for the front and rear mounts.

Thanks

These give you all that you should need. The rear subframe mounting dimensions are the same on all Minis, although obviously the later ones had a rubber mounted front subframe, different to those diagrams.

Many thanks - should have everything I need now to make up a good jig.
