Oil Cooler Hose Size (Internal Diameter)

I'm needing to makeup my own oil cooler pipes so it will clear my radiator etc. am I okay using -8 hoses?
-8 is 10mm internal diameter for those unfamiliar with AN sizes.
Thanks in advance
Ben

The coolers I am familiar with either have BSP fittings or AN-10. The block adapters I have seen in catalogs are also AN-10. However, those adapters look like they are re-threaded 5/8 UNF (to fit the block) from originally being 3/8 pipe threads. This suggests you could make your own custom (AN-12) fitting for both the block and filter head by re-threading existing parts. However, you would still be faced with restricted inside diameters on the oil cooler fittings. If you select a non-factory type cooler with AN-12 fittings it might be worthwhile to make your custom fittings and use larger hose. Using the factory type coolers, the custom fittings and larger hose might just be wasted effort.

I will be upping the oil pressure slightly as I have to feed a turbo aswell so am hoping this will help overcome any slight restriction I may occur

I did a quick look and the smallest I found for AN-10 was 3/8 NPT male. While it would not look as neat, you could install a thread adapter between the filter head and the AN fitting. It would probably be about an inch taller this way but it would allow the bigger hoses if that is what you want to do.

Benjy, If you are still checking this thread, take a look at the link below from the Mini Mania web site. It looks like their hose kits are AN-10 or 1/2". The link lists their part numbers for various components (see the bottom of the page).
While Mini Mania may ship them abroad, it might be more economical if you contact Mini Spares to see if they have these parts OR if they can get them for you from Mini Mania. The shipping charges for Mini Spares is likely to be less than what it would be for you.
