Today's quote from a complete stranger at the next pump on the forecourt.... "Nice car, it really suits you!"
So what's that supposed to mean exactly? That I'm also small, old and rapidly falling apart? (Sadly that's actually a fairly accurate description though)ha I usally get "how the hell do you fit in that?!" im 6 ft 3 lol
i get that to! tried fitting in my mate who plays for england basketball team and that was a joke!
the women on the kiosk was surprised when i said £30 is a full tank and does about 200 or so miles xD

I remember once, I finished filling it up, went to pay the clerk inside and with her typical Essex accent went "oh isn't it laaaavly". Just smiled and thanked her, always get the typical "how do you fit in that?" question too, to which I just show them "like this" lol.
Cleaning it once, and a Copper on the beat was walking past. Just finishing waxing it and the sun was out so it was gleaming. He came up to me and complimented it :) get the usual history about how they had one, which is always nice to hear I suppose. It's just always followed by, "is that a Cooper S?" no it's just a Rover Cooper "ah that's not a 1275 is it?" .... yes, yes it is

Was filling up at morrisons and oldish chap got out of his old land rover to fill up and all I heard was "a real miniiii" so I giggled and said yep. Then he said " I can't see how these German MINIS wear the Union Jack on the roof "

I've heard conversations like...
Kids: "Dad look at that car!"
Dad: "Yeah that's a proper mini" *puts his thumb up to me*
And elderly couples looking round my car pointing at everything, only then to notice me sitting in it eating my lunch on my lunch break at work... haha

I just had one when dropping a friend off at the airport here on Maui. A guy asked if I ever got "mixed up" when driving it (it's a RHD)? I just laughed! Most comments are if it's legal to drive it while sitting on the wrong side.

Good for you cooperman! And I agree with you! I'm 27 in February but don't look it or feel it! If you feel good doing what you do, then carry on you're only here once so let's take your attitude and enjoy it take my hat off to you Sir!
I am 53 and just love to take on Golfs, Corsas, and anything else in my 1380, I out cornered a BMW 1.6 a while ago and when we both pulled up at a junction he wound his window down and shouted " what the xxxx is under your bonnet ?? ", i said , just my legs.

Cleaning the interior of my Mini outside the house last Saturday the postman said: 'That's a nice Mini!'
And then I was outside washing the JCW this morning and the same postie comes wandering up to the house: 'You've got another Mini!' I just said I can't stop buying them. To be honest, I felt a tiny bit self conscious. He must think all I ever do is clean my cars at the weekend, when in fact it was just a coincidence! The MINI usually just gets run down to the local car wash once in a while.
Had a long chat with an older gentleman last Saturday too, who asked to have a look inside the Mini. The sunny weather always seems to encourage looks and friendly comments - makes the cars look shiny I guess. Anyway, he said he owned one 60 or 70 years ago and I didn't have the heart to tell him he couldn't have done!

Used to do a bit of delivery driving in my Neon when I was at College, would to always get comments on it. burbling away on their driveway. Probably helped get me a few tips too I reckon.
