I came out from paying to find an elderly couple giving it a very thorough look over much to the annoyance of all the cars behind theirs! All the usual questions and do you do the work yourself ect, then out grandaughter has just got one not as nice as yours though!

I don't think I've had anyone say anything at the petrol station but dad got asked the other day:

"Is that a real mini"

Dad : Yes

"Oh, it just looks to small to be a real mini"

The one I used to keep hearing at petrol stations was: "Why don't you just put £20 in it?" Back in 2007 when I learnt to drive and was driving the mini £20's worth of petrol did not fit in a mini tank. Ah... them were the days. 94.9p a litre

When I started driving in late '93 it was 53.9p a litre. How depressing.

Haven't had a quote yet, but do get such a satisfying feeling when walking back to it, gleaming under the forecourt lights, then I just smile and think, yep, thats mine :D

back in 1990 when my cooper was new i used to get  " did you restore that your self "  comments

Exactly what was said to me in 1990 whilst parked up in my brand new Mini Flame. Perhaps it was the same person :-)

Not had anyone say anything in the petrol station but filled up the other week, came out from paying and an oldish black guy was walking round it, having a right good look! When i approached he had a big smile and said hello :D I think he liked it!

On another occasion i had a young lad behind me at the pump, he was in a fake bmw mini, and he was trying his best not to look, as were the young females in his car. May have been down to my 'bmw mini my arse!' sticker on the rear window :-) Then i roared off... love my exhaust :D

know that feeling too well. My exhaust has a right growl, guy in red bmw with union jack...basically the same everything except his was bmw and mine has better exhaust. I saw him watching me drive away...think he was a little green eyed if he told the truth

When they see me they say "Look at that grey-haired old guy in that super Cooper 'S'". I don't care - I still can't decide what I want to do when I grow up :D.

73-years-old and still driving sideways (and laughing about it). I have promised to teach a young Mini owner how to do handbrake turns when I can find the time.

That cooper thing is more a uk thing, drive over the continent and you can even have a 10 inch cooper badge but that old chap at the petrol station will always say nice minor.

Some copper crashed in my bini once (yes how lucky) and they wrote 'mini minor' on the insurance claim  O_O

My friends Barrie 'Whizzo' Williams and Peter Baldwin are still winning races and they are my age. There is life in the old dogs yet!

I still fly sailplanes as well including my own vintage Schleicher Ka6.

You are only as old as you feel, or allow yourself to feel.
