'I used to have one of those back in the day' *Continues to tell you entire life story and every occasion the Mini broke down*

I always get "Me and the kids love your mini".

back in 1990 when my cooper was new i used to get " did you restore that your self " comments
Posted 28 January 2014 - 05:52 PM
"oh I used to have one of those, in fact I've still got a 1071 cooper engine, never used, still sat in my garage if you want it"
I said no and drove off

Had a few comments but my favourite was from an elderly chap, he didn't say anything at all, he just nod his head at me with a thumbs up. Made me smile

"Name your price!"
I said it wasn't for sale but I'd probably be looking for £9k (this was 2003)
He gave me his card and said I should call him if I changed my mind.
He was pleasant, but a bit drunk I think.

Nice Indian attendant: 'Very nice car. Don't sell it, wait a few years and it will be worth much much more.'

Kids pointing in the back of the car, and dad getting out and saying "Yeah, its a proper mini" or kids saying "Look at that little car"... I'm proud, because if you put the word little in any other sentence, most people would take offence.

I always get "look at that good looking guy in that old car"
That's better than "Look at that good looking car in that old guy" or "Look at that old looking guy in that good car"...lol

I always get "look at that good looking guy in that old car"
Or is that "Look at that old guy in that good looking car"?

Ive had "Thats a nice car, bet my MK1 Cooper S was quicker" from an old bloke. Made me chuckle.

I once had "That's the nicest sounding Mini I've ever heard"
Got to love a Maniflow
I also had "Is it a Cooper?" from a pretty young lady. "No - it's a tuned 1275GT - quicker and more exclusive". She lost interest right there Badge snobbery obviously...
