If this is a plate on retention, then you can sell them via ebay and many number plate brokers.

I havent done this myself, i dont see the point in a personalized plate myself.

Note: if this is related to a mini V5 or anything like that, the topic will be removed.

If it's not very valuable you would be better advertising it and selling it yourself. As Jordie says if it's on a retention certificate (V778) then it's easy. If not your are better to pay the transfer fee and put it on one.
The number plate dealers want a high mark up so either will offer you buttons or will only be willing to advertise it on your behalf.
In my experience they will then try and force you down on the price once they have someone interested in your plate so they make more profit I fell out with one large Company over their behaviour on one of mine.

That is expensive you can buy pretty much any old number from DVLC from £150 up.

Edit: Seems like it is now £250....

All the plates start @ £250? (I may be looking at the wrong site though) and they are for prefix plates not suffix?

I think asking and selling price may be wildly different on these items

It's worth what someone will pay ultimately, but worth a try at £300. Presume it's on a retention certificate which would have cost you at transfer time and makes it easy for whoever buys it. When comparing with number plate dealers it is worth pointing out that the price the quote and what you pay can be quite different as there is often the transfer fee (ie it wasn't on a certificate) and vat.

Have a look on ebay there are lots for sale on there too.
