As it would happen my cousin's reg documents say his Mini is a 4 door saloon. Just a shame it doesn't actually have 4 doors. They also have it declared new at first registration in 2003.

 

I think someone at the registration office had been to the pub for lunch that day.

 

It would probably be worth more than an equivalent Mini because of this for someone who wants to make one of these or a limo because they wouldn't need to go through IVA but for sentimental reasons I don't think he'll ever sell it.

Yes - you are modifying the monocoque so it would become subject to an IVA test and all the registration malarkey afterwards depending on just which incompetent at the DVLA ended up dealing with it.
