Hi, what does the immobiliser light flashing quick mean?

I usually get in the car and it flashes like normal, then I press the button then the light goes off then start the car. Since yesterday it does the same, but when I press the button the light keeps flashing quick, yet it still lets me start the car.....

Does anyone have a scan of the fobs/immobiliser instructions? As it'd like to sort the alarm as well as that doesn't seem to work, plus the family I bought the mini off said it never worked during their 9 years ownership.

Cheers

I think it means it's armed dude. When you press the arm button, it flashes fast for about 30 seconds and then returns to normal flashing speed. I know when mine on my MPi flashes fast it's armed. I could be wrong though

Does make sense I suppose. Never thought about that. See I've never had to use the arm button, only the plain button.

I never arm the alarm on mine dude. Purely because mine is overly sensitive. A large luton van once drove past and set it off lol. So all I do now is shut the doors when the engine is off (as you would lol) and let the immobiliser arm itself after 30 seconds, it does that automatically.

The alarm light flashing rapidly (8 times per second) means it us arming the system. It should slow once the system is armed and keep flashing slowly showing it is armed.

The only other circumstances under which the alarm light will flash rapidly is after the alarm has been set off to indicate to you that it has gone off (the horn sounds).

So it sounds like your alarm had gone off and then when you went into the car the red light was flashing rapidly to tell you this. Turning on the ignition and resetting the alarm with the key fob and it will go back to normal.

They can be temperamental due to wiring issues common to all minis for example usually the door switches corrode meaning it doesn't know you have opened the door. On my current SPi the alarm didn't work when I bought it, but then neither did the interior light ; new door switches and all of a sudden hey presto the horn started blasting when I next opened the door :D
