I'm jealous. I wish I had a garage to do this kind of work. Looking good.

Is the aperture in the centre of the bulkhead supposed to be there? And I would be so tempted to convert it to single cable handbrake if it was mine! I think you can get the single cable for the long wheelbase can't you?

yeh i think the apature is there on all pickups but it has a plate rivited over it usually. Nowbody seems to know why its there though it just is.
Whats the advantage of a single cable hand break? I know thats what my jet black has but didnt all early minis have the twin?

The single cable's a hell of a lot easier to adjust, and pulls more evenly on each side as the drums wear because of the cable balancer.

Been busy over the past few days working on the pickup. Ive cleaned off the load bed and sprayed it all up in etch primer (much nicer to work on without the rust), cut alot of rusty metal out of the B post in a sort of cross section through it. This had a big effect on the strength of the car so i welded it up straight away. Ive put the patch in along the quarter panel the same as the drivers side and made the other patchs i need to finish the seam off, so hopefully ill be able to finish it off tomorrow and get started on the wheel archs.
I also finally got round to tidying the work shop up....its nice being able to walk from one end to the other!

Looks great.

Did you find any pickups to look at while we were at Brooklands? Or where they all covered over?

Sorry to come in a bit late but I was searching for this posting by a mate on another forum ... is it the same thing?

Hasn't that got something to do with the "spit" that they used to hold the bare shells with to spray the body? The saloons have a similar cut out in the back of the rear seats.
