Well ive had a truely mini weekend! Fitted a new steering rack to the jet black yesterday and today ive been fitting the new front end on the pickup.
Its amazing how badly genuine panels can fit. Ive spent hours today trying to fit an inner a panel wing and front panel together.
They fit ok now, but they were terrible, why does one ginuine panel not fit against another? Crazy!
Its quite satisfying seeing the improvement in fit over the day and its good fun bashing them around till it all fits. Ill get hold of the spot welder at evening class tomorrow and get it finaly aligned, so the front should be done very soon.
Quite nice having it look like a mini again, reminds me why im doing it.

Most poeple think the genuine panels will fit better :)
and get a nasty suprise :)
Its looking well now ,
cant wait to see it finished on the ring-run .

Been working flat out on the pickup all week and its really starting to look good now. Its finished back to the rear bulkhead and all sprayed up in etch primer. Im aiming to have the shell finished in the next month or so if i stand anychance of making in to the nurburgring.

Amazing you have come a long way. Good work, I don't see myself doing that just yet.

Yeh its good to see it coming together Al*, i just like it when i open the garage in the morning and it looks like a mini.
I didnt really see myself doing this either Minimoi. I didnt know how to weld and had never done anything like this before but i just ended up with the pickup and it was either this or the scrap heap

I wondered why you hadn't been posting progress, I thought you might have given up! Hope you had a good time away from the Mini. It's looking so much better now, such an improvement!

Been really busy scince my last post, lots more etch primmed panels but mostly working on the really dodgy load bed/bulkhead seam which is actually worse than i had originally thought. Im having to do quite alot of work to the backs of the B posts which is complicated. Also where the load bed meets the quarter panels the bed has not faired very well so large chunks are missing there too. Should have all this sorted next week though.
