I'm on most days and I've not heard the MOD either but using groundwave I would imagine you'd have to be near the location in that part of the UK or propagation to be right to pick up the transmissions, come July on we'll know the answer for sure

DAZNOTTSMINI72, do you consider it acceptable to give advice which can result in people getting criminal convictions? The Wireless Telegraphy Act is criminal law. It is rare that only the CB set is confiscated, often the offender is prosecuted, and most such prosecutions are successful. Admittedly, most people will just ridicule your ineloquent, duplicated post, instead of following your suggestion.
In relation to the original topic of this thread, the law seems to be changing, but the details of which EU countries, if any, will allow a multi-mode (UK and CEPT) set to be used in CEPT mode, or even brought into the country, are still not clear. That information is not in one place, and invariably in the language of the country concerned. What is clear is that using one in UK mode anywhere except in the UK is still illegal, will most probably remain so, and is likely to be dealt with severely.
The latest on legalising AM and/or SSB in the UK is that it will not happen till at least summer 2014. I don't imagine that it will have high priority in parliament.
