I'm on my second Smart car for general running around in, the first one was the best with the turbo, Brabus would be good. Leased a brand new convertible one last year for £120 pm runs on fuel forever and insurance is not even worth mentioning. Good fun as well, bit small but good fun.

I like it I was thinking of getting a 4x4 but the urge to take it off roading with my dad would probably have me end up in a ditch on the roof haha

Just looked at the roadsters but none of them were near me
I was always under the impression that the smart fortwo didn't handle that well? What's the storage with one of those? Always wondered if they had a boot/storage

Storage is good, the coupe is better as you can open the rear window as well as the boot and put the seat down, although with the convertible just put the roof down and off you go. Loads of mods for them but I just use mine as a workhorse, pays for the Mini resto  :)

R50 MINI Cooper or an R53 Cooper S like the Mini Magazine project car below.......with similar ride, handling and the fun drive with direct steering of a classic Mini, plus loads of modification potential. :mrcool:

Fitting a Forge Motorsport intercooler and brake upgrade to Mini Magazine's R53 MINI Cooper S.

You can get a 2000-ish BMW E36 for around £1200 and that is a superb car. I sold my 2000 323i with 143,000 last May for £1000 to a good friend and he has had absolutely no problems with it at all. He gets 34 mpg and, as a 21-year old motor-sport student he doesn't drive slowly. He had an MG-ZR before that and a Citroen Saxo, but says that there is absolutely no comparison with the BMW.

Plus one on a Bimmer. Get an e30/e36, if you get a 6cyl one, you'll not be needing a radio hahaha 😊

Just make sure you drive it at around 90mph everywhere, whilst on your phone... also drinking a coffee... two feet away from the car in fronts bumper.  ^_^

BMW MINI Cooper S Supercharged (R53). Cheap. Fast. Reliable and like a Mini.

Enough said.

Depends what you want?!

I'd say 106 Gti if you want that Go Kart feel but I wouldn't want to drive a 106 every day for any real distance. I'm slightly bias, but I have had 60+ different cars and always come back to French tin for the fun factor.

I'd say budget, amount of use it will get, size required, and numberplate/age snobbery depending on what you like

:)

Clarkson has also stated the 106 GTI as one of the most fun cars he's ever driven. Might be hard to get hold of an unabused example now?

Loads of bad stigma attached to them, People don't believe it but I prefer it to my previous cars.. Porsche 911, Evo VIII, audi S3, Bini cooperS, 200sx etc etc.

I was quicker round the nurburgring in the 106 as a comparison to the Evo!

Not the nicest cars to drive everyday though, or on long journeys
