They are single skinned so get condensation, there are also about half a dozen ways water can get in, but all are cheap/ free to fix. Water in the main bit is worse as its down to blocked drain holes so could mean nice rusty sills that will erupt at some point. Don't pay a lot, good ones are around for £1000. I paid £700 for one that needed two shocks, a rad and two patches of welding. It took a couple of days all in all.Look at the rear sills and also the front chassis outriggers. Part of the end are hidden by the bottom of the wheel arch liner. Lift that out the way and get a torch up and have a good look. Don't worry if the boot is a bit damp, but avoid one where the main carpet is wet. Thanks for the tip I'm going to look at a mk1 tomorrow but it's something to keep in mind
Good tip, never heard of the boots being damp, sadly it's at a dealers so may have been kept inside might take a bucket to test the roof haha

No experience of a turboed one, except a drive which was awesome. You could try asking on mx5nutz. They can be a funny a bunch and will bite the head off a newbie for any minor perceived infraction (do not ask how to identify an LSD unless you enjoy being flamed persistently for days) but there are some good people on there who know them inside out.
I'll have look Thank you and I'll try to keep that in mind haha,
And that turbo ed one definitely looks interesting may have a special trip
