Take into account that I am over 40 and want to use my Mini on long journeys. What is the most comfortable new seat I can fit. I like the Cobra recliners but following on from another thread there seems to be issues with build quality. I wouldn't want to spend the biggets part of £1k on seats I need to have refurbished.

I love my Recaros in my integra.  Comfy (even on a long run), recliners and can be found in LOADs of performance Japanese cars with various patterns/material finishes. Integras had them in Black, Red or Yellow.  Half fabric/alcantara too.  Ones from a DC2 like mine will cost about £3-400.

I have seen Elise seats in a mini, I had a VX220 and the seats were excellent (not all my mates agreed, however!)

These seem very high from runner to seat squab, which means if bolted on top / same level as the cross member it will be a weird driving position.  If you bolt these behind the cross member, that tends to be too far away from the wheel.

I have recaros from an XR3i Turbo (similar to cossy seats), where the runner is bolted directly to the underside of the seat, with none of the plasticy side bits as shown above:

Recaros get my vote, mine came from a performance Ford.....depending on the car they originally come from the subframes can usually be modified and adapted to suit the Mini and reduced in height to sit closer to the floor or Mini's box section crossmember.

If I wasn't selling my Punto I'd have the seats straight in the Mini, they're very narrow and verrrry comfy so are prime candidates.

Why do you want aftermarket seats particularly? I've never found any aftermarket seats particularly comfortable, whereas the standard mini seats fitted into later models are great. You could probably pick up a set of late mini seats and recover them, for less than the cost of a set of new aftermarket ones.

Another vote for Mini seats here. I put some 1993 to 1996 Mini seats in my Sprite (it had the old smaller '80's type before). No back ache, no need to be a contortionist to avoid oversized side bolsters and they fit with no need for modification or new seat runners.

Will these fit a Mini without too much stress? They look like the seats above but getting a pair of the Mini seats is like gold dust at the mo.
