Hi everyone,

A few days ago I found a 1965 Morris Cooper S replica on our local auction site TradeMe, and I loved the look of it in the photos so much that I decided to go ahead and buy it without even inspecting the car first! Luckily it has turned out to be in excellent condition and runs very sweet, although the 850cc engine is pretty gutless up hills - I'll probably end up replacing this with a 1275 at some point so it's more of a true Cooper rather than just a look-alike.

No doubt I'll be knocking about around these parts pretty regularly when problems arise, having worked on a 1966 MG B with my dad I'm quite well aware of classic British cars' need for care and maintenance, particularly when it comes to Lucas electricals!

I was watching that on trademe. 4500 is cheap if it's as good as it looks. Some cooper wheels and a 1275 and it will be cool.

Luckily it's in great condition, there's no rust in the body and it's mechanically very sound, the only issue I've had so far is a slightly sticky throttle cable which I've fixed with some lubrication. It also came with a bunch of spare bits including a pair of Mk1 doors, a couple of speedo gauges, a bumper and various other bits of trim including the original orange glass indicator lamps, which I might put back on for originality's sake. So in my opinion, well worth the price!

I'm definitely going to look at some 10" 60's Cooper-style minilite wheels, but I'm still undecided because the wheels it has are already quite nice and they match the roof colour. :)

If you want to cooperise it you want cooper s discs, and cooper s wheels which are steel but they clear the discs and are a little wider
