Absolutely stunning build. Can't wait to see it finished. Im in the process of doing a bit of resto work on my 89'. Couple of questions, what is the gloss black paint you use, is it from a rattle can? Also how durable is the powder coating, i was considering having it on my subframes but was told that it can be brittle and chip easily.

Hi, really enjoying this thread, great work. I'm just cleaning up my gear selector where did you get the new rubber mounts from, are they the same as the exhaust rubbers?
Cheers jim

Hi jim,
Good to hear you enjoying the thread. I got the gear selector bobbins from here - http://m.ebay.co.uk/...8700?nav=SEARCH
There not the same as the exhaust bobbins, the gear selector bobbins are bigger.
Hope that helps,

Cheers fr the reply jim

Cheers bud,

This is the gloss black paint I use, it's an aerosol can -

People are of varying opinions when it comes to powdercoating. I've had a lot of bits for my car powdercoated, as you've probably seen if you've had a flick through my thread, mainly to make my life easier as it's less work for me. A lot of the people I've spoken to say it's pretty durable stuff if the preparation is done right but I won't know for sure until I've gotten my car back on the road and have used it for a while.

Here's a couple of threads on here that helped me make my mind up -

Hope that helps a bit,

Jay.

Update,

I'll start off with what I purchased over the weekend -

a48c071572a2ee534f19737436a97543_zpseb89

Just the dual oil and water gauge to get now and then that's the full set. Moving on, I've now gotten the handbrake and gear selector fitted, here's a few pictures.

Handbrake assembly fitted into the rear drums -

d11248a555d6a517884eeb4c4486eb58_zps489f

Fitted the Walnut grip and bolted the handbrake into the car -

Then the gear selector went in along with the front underlay and carpets -

I also mocked up my dash, it's not in permanently, I still need to buy the edging strip and a few other things yet -

I've also cleaned up and painted the clutch master cylinder, here's what I did -

Wire brushed it back to bare metal -

Zinc primed -

And then a good few coats of gloss black -

Cleaned up and rebuilt the plunger system with new seals and washers -

Then put it all back together, here's the finished thing -

And finally, back in place on the car -

That's all the progress for now,

Jay.

Cheers ben,

I'll finish the interior off, door cards, door furniture, steering wheel and what not. Then I think it's about time I got the stuff I need to crank the engine over !

Hi Faz,

My bonnet is an external release, I can get you a picture of where the washer tube comes through the bulkhead shortly.

Jay.

Just finished reading this thread from start to finish. I must say the car looks absolutely awesome, and has given me some nice ideas for my mini.

Definately looking forward to seeing the finished article.
