Update,

So, we was up early today to make the trip to Bingley Mini show. We arrived around 9.30 and went straight in to what I can only describe as madness, utter madness !

The Mini scene seems to have exploded over the last year as it was the busiest I've ever seen it, a lot busier than last year in my opinion. After having my toes trampled on and waiting for what seemed like an eternity to be served at the various stalls, I poured even more into my bottomless money pit and got almost everything I had on my list and more, with the exception of glass and various magnolia gauges, as no where seemed to have them.

Rant over, this is what I came away with -

d1a83964f1415d0825084efaa1d58b41_zps321d

And a few close ups -

I absolutely adore the DSN Billet bits, and I saved almost £100 on the Burr handle set and cappings. The packet in the background is underlay for the floors, so that coupled with the silver bitumen pads that I've already laid down, and my Newton carpet set should keep the noise right down.

Anyway, that should keep me busy for a while now, I'm going to get the glass from Minispares next week and then drop it off to be tinted. Haven't got too much more to do until she's ready for the road and I can't wait, I've got some BIG road trips planned for summer time !

Update,

I've been able to get a quick hour in today, so I've gotten the felt sound deadening in.

It's a really nice quality felt, and it's a good half inch thick -

2df98bfae58a69d178c87aac39fe86cf_zpsb15a

Here it is in the car, it required a small amount of trimming but nothing major. It's damn hard to cut though ! -

And I also got the front bumper on -

I think the next jobs I'll do will be to get the handbrake assembly fitted, finish off refurbishing the gear selector and get that in, then the carpets can go in.

Cheers bud.

It's hard to say really, hopefully it won't be too long now. I've still got the front loom to sort, that's going to be a headache, plus I've still got the tank to put in and then get the engine running, so still lots to do !

Update,

Picked up some much needed supply's yesterday, de greaser, spray glue, paint and what not. I've also bought stainless nuts and bolts to replace all of the mild steel ones on the gear selector, and a couple of things from Minispares, heres a picture -

96f40edf97f4bf88866ca9d5f013f893_zps723c

Also picked up some door glass, didn't have the rear screen in stock so I'll have to wait -

89cbf9e069519f642fdba6faaffd9f80_zps435d

So, onto today's progress. I degreased, cleaned and re-greased the window regulators -

2d7507f4ed5fe7c18371087366c07e0f_zps0b78

Fitted the window runners onto the glass -

And then went outside to build the doors up. I put some non setting putty around the window regulator hole like so -

Also replaced the foam pads behind the door workings -

Then we fitted the glass and chrome weather strips, here's the passenger door -

And the same procedure for the drivers door, putty on -

Glass in and weather strip on -

I picked up some plastic sheeting for the doors from Newton Commercial when we went to Bingley, it's great quality and fits perfectly -

Happy with that I went back inside and made up a parcel shelf out of hardboard -

I've covered it in black suede left over from when I recovered the dash rails, here's the finished thing -

That's all the progress for today, I'll have more tomorrow !

Update,

We got a good days work done on her today. Started off by fitting the rear wheel arch covers we got from Optimise, brilliant quality as is the same with all of their stuff -

40bccebe395668373f73234d01036990_zpsab8e

3ef32385825b1d1d7b87e8a81a1d5705_zpsaf6d

With those in place that means I could get my rear seat and seat belts in -

fed58a5a4e80a0f145a145a20fe843d3_zps1e24

The grey lip finisher is temporary, I'll be getting some in black. Also got the parcel shelf in -

36824f8851c7f564ab4c81dfb8e428a3_zpsac15

Next we carpeted the crossmember, inner sills and also fitted the rear half of the carpet set from Newton Commercial -

0a8a4418b46616e0377e87da951f05bc_zps643d

bd14a0f46150aaad1a0d8d4d78c5e650_zps7076

Excellent fit and hardly any trimming needed. I'm leaving the front carpet & sound deadening out for now as I'm going to refurb the gear selector tomorrow and get that fitted.

Next to go in was the front seats, here they are -

deb3278cc0099c706381ccaa30da81e3_zps3c13

c428702f392a2ebe7a0ccc3ef58c4c58_zpsd0de

And finally a couple of overall shots of where I'm at -

54c7b2912ff59a4b6299b1f5c60bd79a_zps4595

bd4da5100d29bd66379239fa5ac97e5f_zps2986

It looks excellent inside the cabin and the smell is absolutely amazing, like a Mini that's just rolled of the production line at Longbride !

That's all for today, the next jobs will be door cards, door furniture, door capping's and then the plastic pockets can go into the companion bins.

Hi Faz,

I do yes. When we fitted the runners to the glass we fitted the rubber on first, then I applied a smear of car shampoo to the rubber and pushed on the runner. It wouldn't go without the soap so that's definitely something I'd recommend to do.

Also, when fitting the regulator I found that the best method is to set the regulator arms as if you had the window wound all the way up. Make sure the the glass is about half the way down the regulator hole in the door, and then slot the arms into the runners. Then it's just a case of winding the regulator down until the holes for the screws line up with the ones in the door. It is fiddly but patience is the key with this job, also helps if you've got a second pair of hands.
