This is my spot welder, I have a few different arms so I can get into most places ;)

Hi Tom,

Is your spot welder rated at 1mm +1mm or 2mm+2mm ? Just wondered whether you've got away with welding the toe-bard and heal-board with the lower spec, or if you've got the more powerful machine.

thanks

Chris

I'm not sure to be honest! Mine is an old machine and just has a dial reading from 1-5, it welded the heel and toe board ok, but wouldn't do the inner wing - bulkhead crossmember, I had to plug weld this. I still seam welded any structural aeras like the floors/sill/bulkhead to to make double sure it was strong enough, probably too strong!

There was more in the box, the whole interior except seats. I got all the carpet, door panels and dash in today.

If any of the Mini publications staff are online please get this Van featured, I'd hate to think I couldn't see the end result of this lovely rebuild without having to log on just to see a square box with an 'x' in it in years to come. To see this Van in print would be the next best thing to seeing it 'in the flesh'...Can't remember the last time we saw a Mini Van featured in Tweed Grey.

As fun as it is (as well as hard work) for you that this has been, have you considered the effect on your viewing public when this build is finished...what are we going to do without updates..?! :strongsad:

The headlining had a tear, so this had to be repaired.

null_zps534aaff5.jpg

The frame was quite badly rusted so I sand blasted and zinc coated it, came up like new

null_zpsa3f7472f.jpg

Then I glued on and clipped the new material into position

Then I fitted it into the van, sorry about the terrible picture

So much "simpler" than what I had to do. Looks good. Great job with the frame.

Picked up a couple of bits from Bingley at the weekend, just a fre seals and brackets and stuff.

I got the window seals and runners so I got one of the side windows in, they are a bit tight but hopefully they will free up over time

null_zpsd4df9093.jpg
null_zps375e8e0b.jpg

Then I got the check strap fitted
null_zps5b535634.jpg

I didn't like the normal van style door seal so I upgraded to the cooper style stuff, much nicer looking and a better fit, I also fitted some cooper sill trims

And I got my final carmona wheel
