now rthis sounds interesting i have a couple of mountney steering wheels that i would be happy to donate to be tested aswell, ones a four spoke mountney a bit worn and the other is mountney race wheel.

I am happy to do it, I have a rig already set up that we test suspension components on for our race cars. With a bit of effort it could be adapted. I might need a bigger strain gauge.....

Could be worth testing with a standard wheel as well to see how they hold out?

I don't see why not, the only minor issue is getting an appropriate strain gauge. I will see what I can get my hands on and test it. I have no idea what sort of force would be needed to bend a wheel so will do a bit of research and see what I can find. It will be a nice project for the lads at work.

A few of my mates have the OMP reps, there isn't much in the difference between those and a genuine one!! I'd be interested to see how use get on with the destruction testing  :highfive:
