Hi Cliff.

Thanks for your comments.

We are hoping that the landlord will remove the carpets as they still don't look clean and really are starting to smell. The floor underneath them is solid concrete so should wash up ok.

Still haven't done anything to the Mini but it is high on the priority list as it seems to be getting a little worse each day.  :shy:

It will be ok though. Pete (petrol) has offered his wisdom with what to do with it so i am grateful for that.

Cheers

Ben

Nothing wrong with a Citroen AX, had one as a field car for 5 years, also 1 litre, they are great fun to drive and handle surprisingly well :D

Hi all.

managed to get the Mini cleaned up today. Also got the garage sorted a bit more.

Still trying to dry out the flat and its taking ages!

As for the Mini, i borrowed a pressure washer and jetted the mud out. The surface rust is there and needs sorting out but i am most worried about the seams on the new panels i have fitted.

I was on the phone earlier to Pete (petrol on here) who has advised me what to do. As i have lost all of my power tools, he suggested a hair dryer and keep heating the seams until they are so hot that they steam. Once dry i will be poring thinned down Zinc into the seams until it runs out the other side.

I have a couple of photos of the Mini all clean and dry(ish)

Thanks

As someone who donated to the fund, I heartily approve of Craig's suggestion :D

I was going to do just that but Pete said a hair dryer would be better as a heat gun could burn the Zinc primer off tha'ts between the skins.

Either way won't matter anyway as i haven't got a hair dryer either! LOL

Cheers

Phosphoric acid based rust converters are good. Being about as runny as water it should also penetrate as well.

Thankyou. We are getting back on track slowly now. The mess is cleared now so once the repairs are done we can start over.

Thank you Joe.

It was a terrible blow but with all the help we have had both on the forum and from neighbours family and friends, it is more bearable.

Still at least it was things and not lives lost. Thats what we are clinging too.

Cheers

Ben.
