Today has been a productive one.

We had a cleaning crew in who have made a start on the clean up. They hoped they would do it a day but it took them all day to do one room and that room still isn't finished.

I have been clearing the driveway of the sludge, mud and swollen wood chips that came off the bank and unblocking and clearing drains.

The Guy from the cleaning company helped me move the cars around as he was stronger than anyone else here that could have helped me so now we can get the \mini out.

I managed to get some stuff oout of the mini and take some pictures which i will post up later. I cleared some of the mud aside and the floors look not too bad.

The car insurance have been called and they are coming to take the Xsara away for assessment.

Does anyone have access to a parkers guide or maybe in the trade and can tell me the value of a 1999 plate Xsara 1.4i westcoast in excellent pre accident condition i would be grateful so i have a guide as to what i should be offered from CIS.

I will add some of todays photos later for those interested.

Thanks again for the continued support.

Ben

Hi all.

I hope everyone is having a nice christmas.

The cleaners have finished in the flat now and it's looking alot better but will still need more cleaning plus new carpets, a new wall plus various other repairs to walls, new internal doors and frames and fittings.

I had the mini out on the drive today and began to wipe away some of the mud and slop. It is rusty but looks as though it will clean up

I have also began sorting out my tools which was hard work! I haven't touched the boxed Mini parts yet so that will be tomorrow.

We have been sorting out all of our belongings and washing clothes in the Launderette as there is alot.

I put my jukebox back up and bought in my speakers from the driveway which have been out there since it happened. I washed the mud off the cabinets, removed and cleaned the speakers and although they were full of mud and floating around when it happened, remarkably they work a treat so that cheered me up for 5 mins! At least we have music while we work.

Just need to start looking at replacing some furniture soon so hope to be on track again.

I just noticed two more lovely donations from S H Dennis and Lucy Wild so thank you so so much for your help and support. It has been invaluable during this time and will make such a difference to getting back on track.

aarrrggghhhhh, I really want to thank everyone to their face!!! so frustrating not being able to.

Night

Ben

Hello everyone.

I have had another long day sorting out and managed to get Quite a bit done in the garage.

I got the floor cleared of mud and washed, finished my toolbox and tools and generally tidies up.

The cleaners have left so much muck in the flat that its going to all have to be done again...by us. Like they say, if you want a job doing...

Now its drying out inside the smell is quite bad so new carpets will be needed as well as a full re-decorate inside.

Still not touched the mini but we are being leant a pressure washer so when that turns up i will get it washed out and cleaned up.

I have a couple of photos but they are a bit blury as i had to take them with the webcam on the my laptop.

This is part of the lounge with what we managed to save furniture wise.

Its getting harder to believe that all of this was under 6ft of water, mud and slop.

See you later.

Where as the things i had already re-furbed had been painted so faired well.

I am worried about the dizzy and the instrument cluster but all of the suspension components are all ok. Infact i had forgotten how good they looked!

There are alot more parts to get out and sort through but i can't get at it right now.

I have only just got the bits out that are photographed above so i am off out to the garage to begin drying everything off.

Oh and going to look at a scruffy 1.0 Citroen AX tomorrow! woop woop (yeah right!)

Cheers

Ben

Sorry to see and hear of this Ben mate, hope it all comes good for you in 2014, you deserve a brake after all that clearing up!.

The rusting doesnt look too bad on the mini from the pictures but some of that rust killer should cure that maybe ? as a temp solution...

Also can i just say that some floors have a cavity underneither them, might still be a ton of water under the floors if they are that type ? might cause damp if not removed im guessing, just a heads up from my limited knowledge haha.
