have they said how long the works will take?

2 weeks for the plaster work which will then be whitewashed. and they will also fit the place out, kitchen, doors wood work etc

 

That will then be left for 2 weeks to dry out and they will be back to decorate through and fit new carpets.

 

so within a month, we can move back in.

 

The battle with highways continues. We have just heard the result of the site meeting with them and a councillor and they are still denying liability.

 

On the plus side, a neighbour who we didn't know  about today was badly affected that night and he blames the same people as us so we have a new alli.

 

We are going to get together with him and sort out a new plan.

But so glad to hear it's all moving along and getting sorted for you! Great news about decorating etc.

The repairs are coming on really quickly which is strange that it's taken 8 months for them to start!

 

We are beginning to think that the compensation is going to be really hard to sort out but without it we don't have enough money to get even a bed now.

 

we shall keep going though.

 

Until then, we will just get bits and pieces as we go. At least we will have our home back and it will be warm, dry and clean.

You need to ask the Highway Authority for a scaled A4 plan showing the area highlighted that they consider to be "Publicly Maintained Highway". I doubt they will highlight the ditch but its worth a try. All our plans that are sent out say that if a ditch or water course form a boundary then the land owner is responsible for this not the Highway Authority.
