I just unwrapped my refurbished steering rack that had been stored up and it doesn't look too good. It has seized up solid.

Does anyone have any ideas how to get it moving again or if it will still be any good.

Cheers

Hi all, hope everyone is well.

So today, we have had more clearing up after all of the high wind battering the place and whilst i was up on the bank at the back of the driveway, i found the main shell of the Mini's heater unit which i had stripped down last year.

It looks pretty much unsalvagable and is severely corroded and pitted.

Does anyone have any heater parts spare? particularly the main shell? If so, could you PM me with a price please.

Thanks

Ben

I have an entire heater that I took out of a 1989 Mayfair if that's any good to you? I'm talking everything that sits within the car between the two pipes. It's just sitting on a shelf at the moment taking up space, so you're more than welcome to it.

With anything, seized diesel is your friend. Penetrating fluid is good but difficult to use on big things. Just get a 99p bucket from B&Q and half a gallon of diesel. Soak anything seized in it for a couple of days and it should free up. In the case of a steering rack you would need to strip it and re grease/ check it afterwards to make sure the damage is minimal to non existant. Any concerns and I would be looking for a replacement.

Nice one!

How much are you looking for, for it including postage?

Cheers

You can have it for free, I'll find out how much postage is, or can hold on to it until you're next in Kent?

Thanks mate. That is very generous of you. Not sure if i will be able to collect but i am willing to pay postage if you can send it to me.

or It might be worth sending it to my mum's house in Sittingbourne? perhaps it will be cheaper.

Thanks again

Ben

And that has got to help. If you look back to the first page you can hear the despair, it's been great to see how much a little bit of help has helped Bens spirits. Its a small thing in the scale of his problems but small things can make a big difference. TMF has excelled itself on this one (and Craig in particular).
