Thank you Joe.

Everyone is so kind. The donations are going to be such a big help towards getting sorted out.

A building firm came out today and did a quote for the insurance company. Turns out they are going to have to completely gut the place out so we can't move back in for quite a while yet but on the plus side, at least it's going to be all new down here for our new start.

I have withdrawn some money from the fund to get some essentials and i hope everyone is cool with this but i have had the opportunity to get a new runaround cheap but i have to move fast and as the insurance hasn't paid yet for our other car i am a little short so am planning to use some of the flood fund to make up the difference and then put it back in once the insurance pay out which should be next week.

As i said before, i will be using the money to sort out the mini and replace tools lost and this will still happen.

I didn't want to do it this way but i don't have many options!

Ill post up more on that later.

Cheers everyone.

Ben

As one of the many contributors I believe that you can (and should) do anything you like with the money (and I'd be surprised if anyone else thinks differently).

Its to help you get sorted out after all. x

+1. Am following this and hope to visit in the autumn to find you back in your restored home.

Will you later follow up on the ditch/drain that caused the trouble in the first place?

Are we going to spoons or the vineyard for a couple of beers then?

This thread makes me proud to be a member of TMF!

Use the flood money for whatever you need! Does the Mrs need a new hairdryer?

Yeah! and straighteners, curling tongs, crimpers and waving irons LOL!

She is making do with her mum's at the mo but a new hair dryer and maybe a pair of straighteners will be on the list. But that's to come, She is happy to wait while we sort everything else out. She is happy as a song writer that she managed to save most of her notebooks full of lyrics so thats one of the main things for her at the moment.

If you want to PM me your number, ill give you a bell when i know what's happening. No doubt ill be out and about probably with family as all my mates moved away from Sittingbourne since i left!  :shy:

Cheers

Ben

I've PM'd you my number, and if you can, go and buy her some straightners and a hair dryer.

They will mean the world to her at this horrible time!

I think you've been a very good tenant through all of this, some people would demand to be rehoused and not get involved with the clean up!

I really hope this all has a failry happy ending! It appears the mini is going to be saveable which is always a good thing!

Definitely. We didn't give you the cash under the condition it'd be spent on the mini (although if that's your end goal, that's fine too), but to help get you sorted after the flood.

Coming from an isolated little village myself, I know how hard it is to try and get around without a car. A good, level headed use of cash is a little runaround.

I'm happy to be a part of the mini scene. It's such a good community, the majority of people who own classic Mini's are really nice (well the ones I've spoken to).

It's things like this that bring everyone closer :)

Thanks alot sam.

I was a bit worried how people would react as i keep saying to myself, leave the car for now but i am going stir crazy and the insurance are taking so long to pay for the other car that i am out of options..

I am really grateful that i have been given this opportunity of some financial relief. It's one less thing to worry about. You are all legends!

Cheers

Thanks.

We will be following up the cause of this damage with who is responsible.

My GF's parents are going to CAB on friday to see if there is anything we can do and a man we spoke to outside the other day from island roads told us that the creek need digging out and repairing and that we would need to keep nagging them on the phone before they will do anything.

Such a joke!

They knew it was gong to flood before it did and there is no excuse for not fixing it immediately.

Thanks

Ben.

It is something that we need and it will be paid for with the insurance money but as i have been offered such a good deal on a little runaround, i just can't wait for the insurance otherwise it will be gone.

Got a major case of the cabin fever!

Cheers

This Guy!

He set up this fund for me, contributed to it, drummed up donations and been supportive throughout and now he is offering to lend me his car!!!

Craig, you are nothing short of a hero.

I will always be grateful for all of the support everyone has shown through this difficult time. It's a Christmas miracle and i love you all!

Just got back from looking at the car. I'm pleased to say that it was well worth the money so we bought it!

So now we are back on the road at last.

It needs a little work but only minor (new exhaust back box, fuel gauge not working and new fan belt needed) but i can sort that over the next few days.

Cheers

Ben

Hi all!

We are slowly getting sorted out now.and things are looking up.

The car insurance have paid up £600 for my Xsara and the buildings insurance are almost there with their negotiations so hopefully we can move back in soon.

I have completely cleared and cleaned my garage now and have sorted most of the Mini parts and boxed them up.

I have ordered some special rust removal brushes and a new drill to start sorting the shell out. I have also ordered some zinc to force into the seams.

I have been offered a Mig welder quite cheap but i'm not sure what it's like. It is the same as the one in this link http://www.ebay.co.u...=item19e7695df7

Does anyone own one and are they any good?

I will put up some pics soon.

Cheers

Ben
