I will be putting a new head unit in my car, but do not want to put it in the usual place on the passenger side. I also do not want to install a centre console as i think they look tacky.

Is there anywhere else i can put i head unit? maybe in a dashboard somewhere, if there is enough depth behind it?

I hang a CB radio under the heater unit using a nice bracket I got in Halfords ICE section. Works very well. I have my stereo in the usual passenger side place.

Until the heater matrix leaks and soaks the unit ;-)

That's exactly what I plan to do, fit it in with some speakers under the rear seats and control it using a remote

I don't have a head unit
I've got a amp under my passenger seat and wired up to speakers under the rear seat with a 3.5mm jack to the dash to connect my phone, and I've also semi hard wired a phone charger to the ignition

I've put mine in the dash and moved some the switches down.

I am thinking of ideas like this as well. I am putting a center clock back in mine so can't go on a dash. Not fitting a centre console and I can't put it in the passenger footwell as I am a glove box thing from a mini special there.

I was not gonna have a speaker board under the rear seat either haha although I may have to.  I was gonna ask if anyone had mounted one in the rear bits or any other trick places. Under the drivers seat maybe?

Any idea or pics would be great!

Could you not just mount the radio where your box is, then fix the glove box under the radio?

I've been considering getting some sheet steel and making a box to fit like that on mine.

You will need a 3.5mm - RCA lead like this one. Red and white plug into the amp and 3.5 into your phone. You can probably find leads with female 3.5 ends that you can mount to the dash. Or fit a socket to the dash and butcher a cable like this to wire it up

yep thats it

i mounted the amp beneath the passenger seat (its only a small one) and fed the RCA lead up to the dash

i just got a cheap amp off ebay but it has a usb too with a remote so you could just hide it completely
