Setting Primary Gear End Float

Today I fitted the primary gear etc and then checked the end float with a feeler gauge and I can get about 7thou feeler gauge in there 8 at a push am I checking it the correct way can't see very well but feeler gauge is between the thrust washer and gear

I am going to replace the c lip and I need a new thrust washer for a fatter one

Measure it at the other end or better still stick a DTi on it

Okay I did do it there the 1st place I see on te Internet about doing it the way the pic is showed I didn't think it mattered but il measure from the other end from now on

If using feeler gauges Use two at 180deg to each other so that your not just pushing everything to one side. I measured mine at the other end.

Edit sorry I meant at 180deg ie, opposite sides of the ring so you measure the gap even...

Or right yeah I though so so feeler gauge at top and one at bottom

or side to side I measured mine at the front, rather than behind the gear.
