right iv been looking on the tinterweb and carnt find a bloody thing, i fitted a oil pressure gauge about 1 and half mouths ago now to my car as when i was iderling my oil light came on so wanted to see what was up with it but ever since i fitted the gauge the oil light hasn't come on only when you start it in the morning eg turn ignition on. but now developed a new problem was driving it around the other day quite hard and at about 4000-5000 ish rpm my oil light started to illuminate on the dash i changed gear and it went out then didn't see anything again or anything of it. but now the past day or two it has been doing it more frequent at about the same rpm ? my gauge is reading about 50-60 iderling but will drop after leaving it a while to around 25ish, and when at full chat or hard on throttle which ever you say it ready about 70ish ?( its a smith gauge so not sure if it is psi or not ) but basecly my question is if my oil pressure light is coming on at high rpm could it be a warm oil pump ? or something else much worse i did a service about 1 Mouthe before i fitted the gauge to my car , oil , filter , plugs the lot

any ideas would be great thanks ben

Forget the light and read the gauge.

It should have around 15 to 20 psi at 800 rpm when hot and around 50 psi at 3000 rpm when hot, 60 psi at 5000 rpm and over when hot.

Looks like the sender is earthing. Just replace it.

If the gauge is of the mech type, then you have to trust the gauge. But fix the warning light aswell ;)

easy enough test the sensor...touch the wire onto the engine block. If the light comes on ...dodgy sensor
