:wales: It could be many things, what year is your mini, does it have a petrol filter? If so I'd look at that first, if you're lucky it's dirt in the petrol that's blocking the filter. It's quite difficult to diagnose without been with the car. It could also be dirt in the float chamber or something totally unrelated to you just filling up, it sounds most likely though. Hope that's of some help

its a 89, it hasnt got a fuel filter and its got a HIF44, i hope its something like that, hopefully it is, its not like i let the petrol go down to empty to pick up loads of C**p

I've had a similar problem once which was caused after running the tank down, There didn't seem to be enough fuel getting to the carb, anyway after much head scratching it was found to be the fuel line that was at fault, it was that blocked i couldn't even blow down it. As a temporary fix i disconnected the fuel line at the pump and connected the compressor to it to try and blow the C**p out. Since then its been fine although i think at some stage i'm gonna change the fuel line.

its only an idea but if you run the tank right down the % of fuel to C**p increases right? and the pump is pumping craper and cramp fuel the more u use?? so the pump could be pooed but im probaly very rong just gess work for me

you could try emptying your tank to see if its to with that, then run some liquid down the pipe and see how it gets to the tank and then somehow see how it runs thro the fuel pipes to the engine. you get the idea!

It sounds like it might be OK but i had this problem and after fiddling with things like the mixture it fixed it for a week or so before it came back, this may not be the case on yours but you never know.
With mine it was a blocked float bowl as suggested already, you will have an SU carb as standard which is very simple to clean out (if you have a metro type HIF, they are a lot more difficult as thay have an inline float). You basically remove the fuel pipes (have a cloth ready to catch any spillage) and then undo the three screws holding the float lid in. Soak up all the fuel in the float with a cloth and then you should see that the bottom is full of C**p, ideally this can be very easily cleaned with an airline but you could probably find another way. It should then shine all nice and new and then you can just rebuild it all - it may take a while to start afterwards as the fuel will have to fill the float bowl. It would probably be stupid not to fit a fuel filter, you can easily fit one in the pipe by the float, you'd just need an inline filter and some 6mm fuel hose.
Hope you'll be ok without doing this but if you need to i hope it helps....
