I was just wondering if anyone has the below headlights, made by Autopal?

http://www.ebay.co.u...=item5d329af405

I was going to use Wipac Freeforms but they have a plastic lens and I really want glass lenses, which these have.

I did do a search but nothing much came up, but I do believe some people mentioned that Autopal are very good.

Any thoughts on these?

Thanks

I have used Autopal and I found then better than the Wipac Quadoptics. I put 100/80 watt bulbs in and they really were fantastic.

Now I have Hella H4's after I hit a closed gate and broke the Autopals and I had a set of Hellas on the shelf. The Hellas are no better than Autopal. Highly recommended.

I was wondering this also, saw these the other day. I do find my dipped beams pretty poor. A worthy upgrade maybe?

That sounds good then. Cooperman, I will also be putting 100/80 watt bulbs in, with all the necessary wiring upgrades and relays of course.

On a slightly unrelated note, how would you recommend to do it? I was going to use four relays (one for each filament) and some heavier wiring.

Does anyone else have any experience with these headlights, good or bad?

Hi Harry, yes use 4 relays and separately fuse each relay, then you have a 'fail-safe' system and cannot lose both lights on either dip or main beam.

When I fitted 100/80 bulbs I did away with the plastic connection block and used 3 separate connections to the bulb, 2 for power and one for earth, to avoid risking the plastic connector getting really hot. I used some very thick wire as well.

Thank you for that info, that was very useful.

Jack, these seem like good ones to go for, seeing as they're cheaper than the Freeforms but are rated very highly. Some decent bulbs (Osram Nightbreakers are good, or the Halfords Extreme Brightness if you want to stick with the 55/60w) will give even better brightness. I personally wouldn't go for the Wipac Quadoptics as the ones I have tried just seem to throw light all over the place, hence why I am trying some different makes.

I'm running them too. Using the 100/80W bulbs. Definitely require the wirimg upgrade but do put the lights on a par with more modern headlights.
