I've started painting the exhaust to hopefully stop it from rusting. I've got a couple of coats of primer and silver top coat on today.

The HS2 carbs came back from getting bead blasted and fully rebuilt with a CRK101 kit. They look pretty awesome now!

Especially considering they started off like this!

Carbs are looking pretty slick. Should look even better when there on!

Are you using high temp paint on the exhaust manifold?

Yep I am looking forward to getting the carbs on!

The paint is VHT high temp exhaust/headers paint. It will need a few heat cycles to cure fully

I decided to pick up the set of ROH Contessas I test fitted on the previous page. They are 5x10 and drum offset and have a set of A008's. They are significantly lighter than the current steel wheels, which should improve the feel of the car. I like the raw alloy finish on them too.

I've also finally got the passengers seat fixed up. It's been a good 6 months since the rubber diaphragm split and at least 12 months since I bought the new foam to restuff the base... It's actually quite comfy now, a bit firmer than the rubber base but hopefully longer lasting!

I've always liked those ROH Contessa wheels.

I've just read all the way through this. What a great little mini you have there - it's really making me want a nice Mk1 or 2 now!

Fantastic work and I will keep checking back in here now.

Your mk1 mini is amazing! Really fun build thread to read. How often do you guys have meets and how many cars are typically at the runs? The scenery in your area is lovely :)

If that exhaust is mild steel, no matter how much paint you put on the outside it will still do what all exhausts do - rust from the inside out. Plus VHT paint is porous.

Yep, they are one of my favourite mini wheels. They were even factory fitted in the 70's with a higher offset to suit the disc brakes..

Thanks! We normally have a run every 2 months and usually have about 5 to 25 cars along. It's a very nice to live here with some really good driving roads too (about 2 hours south of Sydney)

They are nice and wide!

Then went out for a drive. The new wheels drive so much nicer!

Now you need to update you signature, to include those new wheels.
