Lovely rocker cover! Goes well with your lovely car! 😎
Are you sure it's not a 5?

It was an S originally, maybe someone decided to make it look like a 5 ? It would have looked like the Sports/Australi model listed here

That's a cool rocker cover. Have you considered painting it crackle black and polishing the fins and the name?

I've got the crackle black/polished minispares alloy cover and I was going to do a standard tin one in crackle black as well. Not sure on how I'll paint the sports one yet!

The next cool thing I found on eBay was this steering wheel last week. It had a couple of tiny grainy photos and was described as a "Wooden Morris Steering Wheel" and had no mention of the maker or what specific car it'd fit. It did have the Morris horn button from a mini so I thought it was worth investigating, and it had an interesting stamp on the bottom spoke..

I had a look through the excellent Mk1-performance website and asked on the forum and it turned out it was a Les Leston Grand Prix. It had a pretty low starting price so I thought it was worth a bid. Doing a bit more research it turns out the mini boss kits can be tricky to come across...

The wheel turned up today and it looks pretty good. There is the ding at the top left and a few little cracks but it should come up alright with some TLC.

The all important stamp at the bottom! The next big question was is the boss kit the right one for a mini...

Rather luckily it fit!

That's an awesome find for your Mini and it looks really nice with the wooden dash too!

Thanks guys. I wasn't sure initially if I'd sell the wheel on or keep it for this car. Once I saw it in the car I decided it has to stay!

I've got a total of four now, the original 15.5" wheel, 15" Mountney, 13" Maxrob, 15" Les Leston. The angle of the photo makes them look a bit out of proportion

The 15" Mountney is the "Classic Riveted Woodrim" and it came from Leacy Classic and has a MSB007 boss kit.

The 13" Maxrob is an Australian made wheel and is the deep dish version. It has a strange foam/rubber rim which was deteriorating so for now I've covered it in some grip tape. They also came in larger versions and with a wood rim.

Woops, I'm currently winning the bidding on another steering wheel! I'll update you on that next week when it finishes..

I've also got a collection of rocker covers now too, I might have to found out how many I have in the stash.

Glad I got an Aus rocker cover from you.

The two ones above with breathers are the Aussie made ones - they have the MOWOG stamp in the map of Australia  :proud:

I want one with the breather like the chrome one on the top left.

Also, I noticed you have two vacuum gauges on the dashboard. Any reason why?

The two gauges on the wooden dash aren't connected to anything yet! The final plan will be to have both vacuum gauges there, each one connected to one of the twin carbs. It won't really be beneficial, I just thought it'd be a fun idea and may possibly help in setting them up in sync.

I had an issue last weekend on a drive where the engine cut out. I tried to start the engine again and the battery was completely flat. The old Australian 15ACR alternator had died (although it was 45 years old) so I managed to do the rest of the drive with no charging system after swapping batteries with someone at lunch. It was replaced yesterday with an upgraded unit, I also put in a thick cable back to the starter switch under the floor to handle the additional charging power.

We had a car show on this morning and it's all working fine again!
