Love that dash and the whole interior with the tacho on the steering column. Looks great!

Rylstone 2017 was another awesome trip!
Friday afternoon we got to the Gosford Classic Car Museum and had a look around for a few hours
On Saturday morning we met up with the group and got our registration pack
We got into Rylstone a bit earlier this year which was nice! The beer was cold (as was the temperature outside) and the fireplace inside was nice and warm
It was a frosty start on Sunday morning. The car was difficult to start, with it only trying to kick over when the starter button was released. I think the diagnosis was the blackbox was getting insufficient voltage to run during cranking. It started fine with a roll start down the hill.
All up we did about 850km and no major issues which was great!

Was registered to do this run (from Coffs Harbour) but work got in the way. Would loved to have been present as it looked like a great turn out!

Yes, it was a great run (my third time and the second with my car). I don't know how many cars ended up there, but it would have definitely been over 100.
The current 998 is really getting tired now and probably won't make another trip like that next year... The 1098 crankshaft I was worried about for the engine build had some funny marks on the middle main journal. After getting the engine guys to have a look it turns out they are straightening marks from when it was re-ground. It has been given the tick of approval to proceed with the engine assembly.

That's quite the collection of super cars there. Very cool!

Apparently it's the largest in the Southern Hemisphere according to their website..That's quite the collection of super cars there. Very cool!
I also picked up the 12G202 cylinder head from the engine shop during the trip. It had a bit of work done:
27.2mm / 1.07" exhaust valves
31.75mm / 1.25" inlet valves
Unleaded exhaust seats
Bronze valve guides
Combustion chamber & port work
Modification of inlet manifold to suit head
Skimmed flat

Keen to see how this engine build pans out Is your SA 1098 crank packed away?

I really need to get stuck into it now as I've got most of the parts sorted. The SA crank is resting safely on the shelf it might be a while before I can afford to rebuild another engine though!

I found this rocker cover on ebay last week. It'll come up pretty well with a polish and re-paint, for the moment it matches the patina of the engine bay and is even painted the same colour!
I'm not sure what happened to the start of the S, it looks like someone started to grind it off? I think it would be able to be fixed up by a welder

That's a cool rocker cover. Have you considered painting it crackle black and polishing the fins and the name?
