Theres normally a hose on the back where the thermostat housing is that protrudes more than the others that will (on an allspeed frame) make it a bugger to get a hose on once the engine is dropped into position, not sure how much clearance as you might have more depending on your frame but just keep any eye on this one marked top hose

If it looks like its gonna be tight against the frame/bulkhead once dropped in then feed part of the hose on beforehand

awesome i will add that to the list to keep an eye on.

you are full of information :P im guessing i will asking some questions on the way hehe

the frame i will be using is similar to the allspeed frame.

i learnt my lesson with putting the speedo cables on before the engine goes in, so i will definitely feed some of the pipe on before hand.

what did you clean and paint your engine with dude?

Gunk like you then as I had it on an engine stand I just splashed some hammerite on, pictures made it looked better than it was so job done

Once you get a replacement fuel pump it'll be simple to see how to swap them over, is easy so don't worry

So you not checking/replacing your clutch? I mean your almost like halfway there  :shifty:  I know your trying this on a budget

The more you mess around with it now believe me will help massively later as you will know your way round it once its sitting snug in the bay with not much room to play around it

hmmmm i didn't think gunk worked too well, i used just a normal brush, was thinking about about using metal brush? may be better hmmm

is the hammerite smooth or hammered? hehe

i know there easy to swap i just cant find one, you got one? lol i have already purchase 90 % of what i need, still in my budget nice and comfy :P that will probably change but I'm trying lol

i was thinking about checking it anyway, because if it all works and that doesnt the engines got to come out so i think i will to be honest but i dont have an engine hoist or holder so i will have to improvise lol i know engines generally speaking but its because of no engine crane or holder it makes it difficult to do everything. one thing i couldnt work out was my engine didnt come with a cover for the fly wheel and there was also oil underneath it, which i did pay to much attention to because i thought it might just be a loose sump plug hehe

I just used Gunk as I wasn't looking for the ultimate finish and just wanted to get the crud off, metal brush after cleaning the brunt of it off will work though

And the way I paint its more than likely hammered on!

Don't get that last bit? You didn't have a cover for the flywheel?

last of the wiring arriving tomorrow from the same car, it has everything on it, front lights, dash, ecu plug. Even got the steering wheel, ignition barrel and column :)

not pictured but gauge is coming with it and the missing pot for the drive shaft :)

cant wait to start playing with this! my idea of fun hehe

mms_20131114.jpg

also whats really nice, is that the guy found out today the engine is 79K not 89K which is what he thought lol

the clocks will be showing more than this, over 100K because they are not the original ones, so ill be looking for putting them back to 79K :P

969404_10151832124411716_1842641195_n.jp

just to get the rear mount for it

on monday I am starting all over again :P
hopefully going to cut the bottom of the fire wall and then find someone to do some welding for me, for a nice cup of tea :D and then with the bottom mount strengthened i can fit the subframe where it needs to go :P
then im making sure the engine is as clean as i can get it, then check the clutch if i have time and paint the engine :)

thats the plan for monday.

anyone know a welder is Worcestershire area? :)
