How Much Antifreeze

HI all,

 

Does anyone how how much anti freeze to water goes in a 998 mini a series block

 

also is there a difference between red and blue colour anti freeze

not sure on how much (think its around 5 litres?) but you should use the blue. if your topping it up make sure that it has the blue in already as you must not mix different types. As a general rule old cars have the blue stuff, new cars have the red.

The new red/ orange is called OAT and eats copper and brass so shouldn't be used in old cars as mentioned above. You want a glycol based one.

The mix ratio should be about 50/50. be careful though as a lot of antifreeze these days is sold ready mixed.

I got the blue one that's ready mixed so no messing . Just got three litres in there but Haynes says 3.5 .

I get glycol from TPS but its red so Don't go on just the colours & 50 / 50 is a Good mix

yes or I think was a mayfair reckon Haynes says 3.5. Which would mean about 1.5 of non-readymix antifreeze and 1.5 of water

50/50 is a strong mix, I tend to do 2:1 - it should be on the bottle though as to what ratio you need for the temperatures that could be expected.
2:1 (ish) means you only really need to buy a litre bottle too ;-)
