Naming Your Mini

I have no idea why people feel the need to name their mini's! As far as I'm concerened you simply don't need to name it because it's an inanimate object and the mentaly stable don't assign personal names to inanimate objects! If you're going to name your car, then why don't you name your fridge, TV, hair dryer, and cordless drill as well? The only reason to give your car a name, is so that you have a term by which to refer to it, which you already have, it's called your mini! If you have more than one mini and therefore the need to refer to one, as opposed to the other, then you could always do as I do, and refer to each by their colour!!
If you don't happen to agree then don't bother arguing with me about it here, go and debate it with your toaster instead, or "Brian" as you probably call it!
Bah Humbug!!!

Well seeing as I have never claimed to be 'mentally stable' his name was Percy (JPC numberplate & he just looked like a Percy) but is now a strange combination of Perc or Persephone when I remember to call him her due to new paint colour. Mainly because two little kids came up to me at a service station to chat about their dad's mini & told me he couldn't possibly be a boy because he's pink and flowery. So Persephone was born. Mental instability is much more fun.

No mini naming thread would be complete without my customary rant about mini names not actually being necessary, so here goes...

I love your customary Mini naming rants - I really do! They are the third certainty of life

I've just found out that MINI UK provide naming certificates. Now, I'd feel a little odd getting a naming certificate (or 10, which is how many our family would need) for our Minis in the MINI style, therefore I have a suggestion. TMF should produce a naming certificate for Mini owners who would like a naming certificate for their Mini/s for a small charge, any profit of which could go to TMF's charity of choice. For me, there would have to be one stipulation, each and every certificate must be individually signed by the fair hand of AVV IT!

In fairness, I'm not sure that I've ever claimed to be mentally stable (or otherwise)

My Mini gets the name when my medication starts getting low, but once the doctors in white coats have come round - everything goes back to normal.
But it does talk to me... it does... what was that Sox? Yeah.... I know....

Mine is sometimes called Old Gregg because just like the Mighty Boosh character, there is usually something seriously messed up with it.

Unlike AVV IT who chases urchins away from his door Screaming "HUMBUG" and "GET OFF MY LAND" some of us think naming inanimate objects is not a bad thing to do. My clubby was given the name of Paddy purely from the fact an Irishman had the chance to buy him before us but walked away.
Saying that i have called him other names like " you piece of junk" etc etc. Other than that i have not called any of my other cars a name.

I'd do a lot of good work for "Chariddy" and would do practically anything for a good cause!........ But even I have limits!!

My mini is called sprite, I know very original for a mini sprite, also my 6 yr old daughter comes out with me a lot and say and says he is a little rascal because he is always being naughty, could be the way I drive, however she is fully brainwashed in to mini's and would choose one any day over a bini.
