On the Bini, loads of parts are stuck on with strips of Poly Eurethane which sticks like 5hit to a blanket its in black strips and we used to spray it with water to stop getting in a hell of a mess!!!

I'd use silicone sealant, available from any hardware shops... better off from screwfix though as it works out loads cheaper, you can use it as a flexible adhesive and a sealant so its quite versitile.

It's similar to the cauling strip that modern windscreens are held in with. If you talk to your local windcreens place, they might let you have a little bit of offcut......

The windows are held in in a rubber extrusion. you mean them, or the insert piece that "wedges" the seal closed? Either way, the minishops do them, plus most kit car places and woolies trim.

Ive just read what I posted and it looks like im talking about the rubber seal lol

What I mean is, Ive fitted all my windows in place and the silver insert, but they still leak! a lot!! actually, and i just need the sealer.

@ mq88, hehe! Normal silicon sealer will do the job, but there are better things which are supposedly more water resistant and so-on by people like 3M. Whether it's worth the extra hassle getting some, and paying through the nose for it, I highly doubt.

I work in a upvc window factory.
We use neoprene double sided tape to hold the glass into some frames. Its about 8mm by 3 and its incredibly sticky. I have used it in all sorts of situations on all sorts of cars (including on mini window mechs'). Its so cheap too, that if you go begging at your local window manufacturer, the lads in the factory might bung you a couple of metres for nowt (i know i would)

The mastic used to seal the windows can be bought from caravan places, Autoglass etc and good motor factors.

It is not silicone - it doesn't set - and seals even better. Without it, even if you have new rubbers and chrome insert your windows will leak

Steve, the stuff you want is called tremshield

Maryquant, the stuff you want is called arbomast

Pop into your local windscreen company and speak to the fitters they should let you have some of each for a couple of quid.

Please dont use silicone anywhere near your car if ever want to get any part of it painted it again.

Silicone particles become airbourne very easily, once on your car, are hard to remove.. you cant see them.. and make paint jobs a nightmare.
