Thanks guys...did the hosepipe thing yesterday to identify areas. I know the door cards/interior of the doors are sealed and dry. New plastic sheeting on both and sealed around. New skins and bottom sections and all the interior has been refurbished really, really well.

I can see the leak on the side window...just wanted to know if I can use some sort of sealant to really keep it out.

The leak over the door seal at the bottom is the problem...it just shouldn't be leaking...and yes, I know...it's a mini :-)

And I can see the water in the rear bins...but am buggered if I can see where it's getting in!!

Sooo...sealant? Best sort? Will it work? Idea about door seals...try new, new ones? I've got the proper two piece types for the mpi and they are new... suggestions about where water might be getting into rear bins apart from window seals?

I feel like a stuck record but seriously it's driving me bloody nuts lol ... anything not yet suggested please tell me and i will investigate.

Thank you all for any help.

How old are the door seals, only I've found the rubber shrinks over a few years and pulls away in the corners resulting in water finding its way behind the seal and running down so it looks as if it came in over the seal at the bottom.

How did you get on "Laughing Gravy?"

Im in need for some help again too! Replaced my drivers door seal, and bent the door a tad to guve a tighter seal, adjusted the hinges.......and there is still a swimming pool in my footwell!

Its gotta be coming in from the bonnet/bulkhead because of the sheer volume of water!
Where do I need to look to in the bonnet area to find seals/gaskets?

Im actually getting mould spots on my headlining and seat belt!

Along the top of the cross member you will see on the left ( as you look at the engine bay) your clutch and master cylinder and then on the right there will be a plate with a pipe running through it ( this may vary dependant on the age of the car)
Under both of these should be a gasket, if that has failed then water will travel down from there.

Now the other issue could be the windscreen seal. If you have not done so already pop the windscreen out and thoroughly check the seal. Also look at the state of the scuttle while you are at it.
If the seal is good it will help to use some windscreen sealant on the seal when you refit it.

The other thing is the heater matrix and pipes. Is your coolant level going down??

I know some of these questions have been asked before but if your car is stationary and there is no rain then it must be coming from the matrix or the connecting pipes.

I had the same problem . It was getting past the window seals into the doors and when the car was at an angle dripping onto the door cars and running down and into the car. Solution - remove door card and replace the sticky back plastic that should cover/seal the inside of the door .

Whilst at it I waxoyled the inside of the doors and checked the drainage holes at the bottom.

This was also my problem, water was flowing down the windows and coming in through the doors, searched the net and found a site that made the plastic door seal cover things!

water coming into the door cavity is always an issue. Theoretically the plastic sheet on the back of he the door card should keep it out from coming into the cabin, but rarely does.

This is my answer... using fairly stiff plastic sheet and some duck tape, after cutting each to he appropriate size, stick it to the top of each hole on the inside but put the bottom edge inside the door so drips fall into the door cavity. Major points...  make sure the inside of the door are well rust proofed and the drain holes are always clear

Sonnik4: the bracket you speak of, mine is busted, so will be getting it replaced-so will bget the garage to check gaskets there etc, thanks

Mini has been sat still for about 3 weeks, so i think  its just rain water getting in, drivers door seal has been replaced, and windscreen seems dry.

although will try and check all viable areas, its just such a heartbreak to see it most mornings, but suppose thats the joy of owning a mini! haha
