That second pic is faked, the wind was blowing from the west
The person taking the picture could have been facing south just to be pedantic.

Good point. Always makes me laugh that southerners try to justify why its better to live in the south and hence why its more expensive. No its not.
They will never admit that living in the west midlands is better. We have pretty much everything they do (no houses of parliament or london eye but we can live without them) and at a fraction of the price. We also have the option of being able to drive into a city without being charged and our water is nicer to drink.

I currently live in Bournemouth. There is no way I would give that up to live in West Mids! London is an infinitely better city than Birmingham.
Poor delusional Midlanders and Northerners!

Perfect example of what I am on about.
Everything is more expensive there, you have to pay money to drive a car into it yet you have already paid road tax, its more crowded, your water tastes awful and you have the biggest car park in the world (m25). How is London better?
I'll continue to enjoy my on average £2.50 pints.

Joking aside, you could not pay me enough to live in either London or Birmingham. I hate big cities. London is an utter dump, a few trashy touristy bits and nothing else for mile after boring mile. Birmingham is pretty much the same but friendlier and with less trashy touristy bits (virtually no touristy bits at all if we are honest). Paris is a beautiful city that I could live in. I lived in The Hague and that was brilliant, but UK cities, no thanks.I currently live in Bournemouth. There is no way I would give that up to live in West Mids! London is an infinitely better city than Birmingham.

The north is cold and moist while the midlands is a bit of both while down sarf it warm but a tad blustery.
Having lived up North (jock land) midlands (Peterborough) and now back down sarf (East Sussex) i can say they all have the plus and negative points.
Scotland is bloody cold but has got some fantastic countryside (plus my missus and son are sweaties) The midlands was well placed to get to all of the mini shows and again some good countryside although around Pboro it was bloody flat.
East Sussex, beautiful countryside the downs and of course i'm only a couple of miles from the sea but a bloody long journey to the northern mini shows but on the plus side London to brighton is on my doorstep and next years IMM in Kent.
London is too bloody busy and is expensive especially when we go out on the shant.

I don't drive in London. I would only drive in London if it was for work or I lived there and then I think I would probably prefer to cycle, which in itself has its own issues in London.
London is great city. Far from the best in the world, I agree, but still great. I loved Copenhagen as well but it didn't really have all that much. New York is amazing and Bangkok is something else altogether.
I like Bournemouth because I am right by the sea (5 minutes walk) and I love the contrast between the seasons by the coast. Winter by the sea is amazing. I love cities because of the hustle and bustle but I do also love the countryside and would be perfectly happy with a nice big farmhouse and plenty of land and nice views.
It is a good thing that everyone is different because if everyone wanted to live in the same place or the same kind of place it would get ridiculous.
As for average drink prices, how does it compare as a percentage of the average salary? For example, if the average salary in Yorkshire is 25000 and the average pint 2.50, thats the same percentage of your salary as 4 and a 40,000 average salary. I genuinely have no idea on how things compare especially when taking average salaries into account.
I did hear a good joke about the North/South divide though. Some stand up comedian was saying that there definitely needs to be a divide so suggested building a wall. Obviously, the South would have to pay for it but the North can build it
