Hey i have an Austin mini 998 1979, with standard cones on front and back.My result is a comfortable ride I will buy the soft coil-springs from huddersfield mini spares, and i am not sure if i have to change the dumbers too, i found Bilstein Gas shock absorbers, would that be good ? or oil dumbers would be a better choice for a soft ride?

"Shock absorber (British or technical use: damper), a mechanical device designed to dissipate kinetic energy"

So i guess us brit's should say Damper :gimme:

All shompers (compromise name) contain oil. Gas dampers just  have an inert gas sealed in that performs more consistently than air -  they need something squishablee to allow for the space taken up by the pushrod when they are compressed.

It has little to do with the ride, that's down to the valving & oil viscosity. If you have a harsh ride replacing the suspension rubber cones is a more likely remedy.

Comfortable Mini is a real oxymoron. If you want comfort you don't buy a Mini.

Minis are harsh, noisy unreliable (compared with modern cars) but FUN ;D .

Don't waste your money on coil springs and all the work in fitting them. Just get a good set of GAZ dampers and set the stiffness to whatever suits you. You can't beat the original design with the rising rate rubber springs.
