Rear View ish... gives a kind of idea of a Hornet pick up. I think which ever way you go mk1leg its gonna be a big job whether converting the Hornet to pick up or Hornet-ing a pick up. very cool idea but i have to agree with Duggan17. Converting either would be 1 less of either rare beast

thats why i said go for turning a pickup into a hornet as easier to do and easier to turn back to standard and cutting the roof short on a hornet wil result in the dreaded iva test as would be a radically altered shell

the pick up would require a lot of fabrication at the rear though to get the hornet tail end. front is simple to convert really.

on the other hand. doing a hornet would allow you to extend the cabin a couple of inches to rectify the driving position issues in the pick up cab.

There was one like this on ebay a while back (an elf pickup), half way through the project. It had been roof chopped also though.

I remember seeing one in Mini World years ago where he made the whole back open like a hatch back, so he could fit his drum kit in the back.

Maybe someone on here still has it??

Ringo stars!!

And I would speak to IVA before even thinking about carrying on.. As someone has said previously the mini is a monocoque shell and removing the rear bulkhead is a pretty big modification..

I thinking of a mini Mini pickup.....got the rear window from a scrapped pickup and thinking of putting this in a hornet and fabricate the boot into a tailgate........will hopefully try and start this in the new year and try and finish it by IMM & mini55.... :proud:

so are you thinking of having the boot open the elements in theory by cuttingthe top of the boot

well yes I will be using the rear screen panel and fitting thid as per norman mini pickup and then fitting a new rear of a pickup but cutting it to fit in the confines of the hornet rearseat and boot area....well thats the plans.......

A bit like this then mk1leg?

attachicon.gifwolseley pick up mock up.jpg

not quite......minipickup2_zpsccdefa59.jpg

wow that looks neat but the load bed for  a pickup isnt cheap (or they werent when i priced it up for my pickup) so wouldnt it be easier and cheaper to swage a larger sheet and then you can make it to the correct size then

I will be making an ally replica floor with mods..... :proud:

Just been looking a random pics online and see this it's just a saloon with blocked of windows and not a mini minivan as I intend to do but the idea is similar apart from I won't debase am it and will try and incorporate the beading in the side panel to look more retro as well as some retro tens an speedwell blue or a tweed grey
