Is there enough room to get the bonnet open as you have an internal bonnet release grill? And being a mk3 it needs an external release grill ..... Or have I missed something ...:0).... The straps do look nice with the shortened strip...

Cheers James

Or use the straps for what they were intended for?

Thank you all :)

but as i said I'm just sorry that i didn't come up with the idea.  :)

i chose the internal grill because i am not using the original lock, I'm planing on a 7-port top as the final engine. but as Ben says, I'm just using the straps as the only lock, because i cut out the original lock brackets.

Kind regards Nino  :D

Hi TMF

Does anyone know what this tag is for ?

and how many 1" holes is there original in a 1975 mini floor ? :)

- Nino

Hi Nino, thats the floor assembly no = located in the RH foot well.

A Mini has 3 plates like that, the other two are the FE (Front End no) located on LH inner wing,  and finally the body no, located on the slam panel.

The floor assy no hasnt been decifred yet, but the FE no, can be used to date the shell, and the body no tells you what car the shell was made for.

B20S 101 is a Mini 850 & 1000.

D 20 S 101 = Clubman.

B 20 D 101 = Cooper S.

D 20 D 101 = 1275GT.

20 W 101 = Clubman Estate.

hi TMF.

hmm i guess its time for an update.
i lost the drive in a period, because of a stupid body shop.. they banged and smashed my doors, and put an extremely rough layer of rubber coat under neath the body, even i told them not to an so on. but here is finally some progress.. including the car on its own wheels for the first time in around 8 years ! :D

enjoy.

IMG_6220_zps7owsadud.jpgIMG_6221_zpsetvijkvk.jpg

If i must say, i really got a nice floor now :)

IMG_6223_zpscapnwsti.jpg

IMG_6225_zpsj1irvruv.jpg

and i drilled all the original 1" holes.

IMG_6259_zpsi5l9by2b.jpgIMG_6267_zpsyrqfvb9y.jpgIMG_6268_zpsralelpjk.jpg

I Cooper S converted the front, so my oile is nice and cool :)

IMG_6354_zps9xyi6ikr.jpgIMG_6356_zpsnj8ajuyh.jpgIMG_6358_zpstfrtmyuv.jpgIMG_6359_zpsjymkdumt.jpgIMG_6360_zpswylq4mhu.jpgIMG_6363_zpsy1zi0arl.jpgIMG_6366_zpsa1w6mpex.jpg

As you would think, i NEVER want to see rust on this car again, so i made these.

IMG_6390_zpsth6dtnw1.jpgIMG_6392_zpsybsrdznj.jpgIMG_6393_zpsclhuv366.jpg

What a great top end build.

You may want to consider spreader plates welded to the floor where the cage mounts to enable the local floor area to take the load should you be in the unfortunate position of relying on your roll cage.

Keep up the great work
