flame red... oh, a nightfire stock MPI is a pretty rare beast! It's a nice colour! Flame red a bit of a more predictable shade, but it had to be solid red for me

Unfortunately mine isn't standard lol It was bought from Minisport by the original owner who paid for it to by modified (different arches, spot lamps, different wheels etc). It's now got a 1380 with stage 3 head etc. interior is standard though lol

Interesting! Should shift pretty well then! Haha there would be something great about a truly quick mini with tweed seats!
I've always said that if I were to win the lottery, I'd build some form of rapid supercharged A series Mini that would look exactly like a mid-80s Granny's shopping car-spec Mayfair... beige body and trim, with obligatory rust, stock steel wheels and all! Can you imagine the fun you could have rocketing past Beemers at traffic lights?!

That would be awesome, I have often thought about that. I have to admit my blue, although its body is a rusty grott box at present, it is nippy! Had some lads in taxis laughing etc, would of loved to see their faces once I zoomed past!

Sounds good, have you modified it?! The standard MPI motor is pretty quick, but I always get the impression that it's been massively overgeared to keep it quiet! No grunt at all in top! Takes practice to drive one... favourite moment so far has been passing a badly driven new Boxster!

My blue is an Spi and it has been modified somewhere along the lines by the previous owners just before she sold it.

Nice! Good to have the work done! I'm told the SPI is a little easier to tune!

My red is a 97 Mpi Cooper S, don't know what's wrong with it but its very sluggish

Oh dear! ... wouldn't expect a Cooper S (as in the 90BHP conversion?) to be that slow...
Perhaps try and run it through a diagnostics machine? Might come up with something you never know, although the computer systems are always a bit recalcitrant as they were a bit of a parts bin knock off for the A series! My problem is electrical... I call it a plug in hybrid because you have to keep it on a trickle charger to ensure that it will start haha

Sounds like you may have a dodgy earth connection somewhere. Check all the earth points to see if any are rusty or broken
