Great factory visit today, thanks for organising Surrey New MINI Club and thanks Tanya for arranging the tea, coffee and biscuits plus directing the car park traffic during the photo sessions!

Also could not help noticing those slightly different shaped Mk3 MINI's on the production line, especially the ones with a couple of extra rear doors and one with an F56 sign on the front bumper!

Journey home to Surrey via the M25 turned out to be a bit of a nightmare friday night traffic jam........ :ohno:

There is another 'Surrey New MINI club factory visit likely to be arranged for early next year when the brand new 'body in white' building for the Mk3 is open........will let you know nearer the time to see if we can maybe meet up next time? Do you get to work on the new F56 we caught a few glimpses of? (If you are allowed to say)

Tanya from TMF also came along on this tour and brought the Mini 25 in the photos outside the plant tour/exhibition area. The group tours are normally arranged for 25 people so there are often a few spare/cancellations available.......perhaps TMF should organise a tour, very few people have ever been inside a modern car factory and are surprised by how it all works in production.

I would love to. Ironically I'm leaving in a month or two to start a new job at Rolls Royce. Been at Plant Oxford for 12years and now it's time to move on

The plant also does tours that anyone can book onto - there are usually two or three times each day.  Went on a Monday evening last year, there were just two of us on the tour (which lasted 2.5 hours) and it was absolutely brilliant.  Highly recommended if you're in the Oxford area.

Details on how to book a tour of the plant are shown below. (Note the new 'Body in white' building where the robot spot welding line is situated won't be included in the tour until early next year due to major construction work taking place for the production of the new F56 Mk3 MINI for 2014)

"Around 10,000 people come to visit Plant Oxford every year to see how MINIs are made. Tours are available from Monday to Friday"
