Hello,

Could anyone help me please ?

I need to re-new the seals in my single line brake master cylinder. It is the plastic reservoir type.

Following the Haynes manual is pretty clear, but I'm not sure how to remove the upper seal from the piston to replace it. The piston spring retaining washer is fixed to the head of the piston so I dont see how I can remove the upper seal over it.

I dont want to force the plastic retainer off the piston as I dont want to damage it. The repair kit containing the seals is on its way to me from Somerford Mini.

Any advice would be appeciated.

Thought I'd be brave and try to gently pop the spring retainer off with a fork type implement. Seemed I was right. It's a push fit  :proud:

I also found out that the brake pedal to master cylinder push rod connection is missing the clevis pin :ohno:

It just happens that gravity keeps the pushrod aligned to the pedal rod.

I cant find the pin in the footwell or behind the carpets / soundproofing, so it must have never been re-fitted after it's last disconnection.

God knows how many miles shes done without the pin in.

I should point out I've recently inherited Molly from a relative and am working to get her on the road soon, so it's not my doing !

Glad I found it now ......... jeez  O_O
